About the Scholarship

The Renters Guide Albany has been focused on being the best resource for any moving to or who lives in the Capital District of New York to find their perfect apartment home for over 25 years. The Renters Guide Albany is proud to offer a $500 scholarship to a deserving student from a Capital District High School or attending a Capital District College or University.

To enter this scholarship contest, please review the eligibility requirements and submission rules then use the form below to submit your entry. Submissions must be received by July 31st, 2017. The $500 scholarship award will be provided to the writer of the best essay, as decided by our judges.

Capital District Student Scholarship Official Rules

Submission Criteria

To apply to win the $500 Scholarship applicants must submit a 400-500 word essay on how the Capital District has impacted your life in a positive way.  All essays must be properly submitted using the form below no later than July 31, 2018.

Eligibility Requirements

All applicants must be US Citizens or permanent legal residents of the United States and be student of a Capital District High School, College or University. Applicants must also be attending or plan on attending an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in 2018 or in an accredited graduate school program, who will continue a full-time enrollment during the entirety of the 2018-2019 academic year.

Any winner will need to provide proof in the form of a letter from the institution of attendance prior to the payment of the scholarship. This can be in the form of a Transcript, Enrollment Verification Document or an Official Letter from the institution on letter head.

Description of Funds

One applicant will receive a one-time $500 scholarship payable (via US mail or Direct Deposit via PayPal) to the accredited university or directly to the winner as designated by the applicant after the application deadline.

Recipient Selection

Following the July 31, 2018 deadline, the student recipient will be chosen by our judges after reviewing all valid entries received prior to the deadline. Essay entries will be judged on writing quality, creativeness, insight and ability to showcase personal growth from experiences. The recipient will be announced 30 days after the entry deadline has passed. The winning student will be listed on and will be notified via email at the email address provided by the recipient. If the recipient is disqualified or fails to reply to contact attempts within 48 hrs of being notified of the results, we reserve the right to determine an alternate winner or not to award the scholarship.
